At 2.3 percent, Colorado is among the top five states with the lowest U.S. unemployment rates in April (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics). For Manheim Denver, a full-service remarketing company serving the wholesale automotive industry, this spells continued trouble finding qualified talent to meet the reconditioning needs of its location.
“Due to the critical shortage of students entering technical schools, reconditioning shops in the area are fighting for talent,” says Marla Jones-Newman, human resources manager for Manheim Denver. “Manheim Denver is experiencing sustained growth in our reconditioning shops and we are actively seeking certified mechanics to support our expansion.”
To help fill these positions, Manheim Denver has hosted numerous job fairs in the past few months. The team partnered with TA to host a job fair in February, attended a job fair at Lincoln Tech in March and participated in another one at Pickens Technical College in April.
On May 8, the Manheim Denver team hosted a job fair exclusively for students of the Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF), an organization that connects students and employees to an array of career opportunities.
“Our organization serves as a bridge between technical education and industry employment, and we are focused on empowering a new generation of collision repair students with the skills and resources they need to be successful,” said Brandon Eckenrode, Director of Development for the Collision Repair Education Foundation.
On May 11, Manheim Denver partnered with TA to host another job fair open to the public with hopes nearby graduates and qualified professionals will be interested in the 30+ body shop, inspector and driver positions. Specific job openings include: Commercial Accounts Supervisor, 10 Inspectors, Commercial Account Coordinator, Dealer Services Coordinator, Mechanic Shop Coordinator, Detail Tech, Retail Advantage Body Shop Buffer, Auction Body Shop Prepper, Prepper Quadrant Coordinator and 10 Lot Operators including Driver and Lane Leaders.
