Manheim Pennsylvania Contributes $20,000 For Johns Hopkins Medicine Programs
Auction Continues Support of Lancaster County Community, Region with Donation to Benefit Hospital’s Heart and Cancer Programs

MANHEIM, Pa., – In support of  exceptional health care for our community in Lancaster County and southeastern Pennsylvania, Manheim Pennsylvania has made a $20,000 donation to benefit the Johns Hopkins Heart and Vascular Institute and the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore, Md. This is the second consecutive year Manheim has supported the important work of Johns Hopkins.

“Philanthropic support from Manheim allows heart and cancer researchers to advance novel discoveries and translate them into therapies and treatments for our patients and families,” said Shannon Wollman, Director of Development for Johns Hopkins Medicine. “Private funding enables us to make great strides in research and accelerate breakthroughs.”

In honor of heart transplant recipient, Susan Adcock, whose husband is an auctioneer at Manheim Pennsylvania, and Randy Derr, a leukemia survivor and Manheim Pennsylvania assistant general manager, Manheim Pennsylvania elected to give a very meaningful gift again this year. In February 2014, Manheim Pennsylvania raised $31,750 for the Johns Hopkins Heart and Vascular Institute and the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“Once again, Manheim Pennsylvania is fortunate enough for an opportunity to support Johns Hopkins Hospital and these two programs that save lives,” said Julie Picard, vice president and general manager of Manheim Pennsylvania. “The management, staff and customers of Manheim Pennsylvania continue to strive to back worthy causes like the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and Heart and Vascular Institute. We all take pride in supporting a hospital that is such a blessing to Lancaster County and southeastern Pennsylvania region.”

About Johns Hopkins Medicine (http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/usa/)
From the 1889 opening of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, to the opening of the School of Medicine four years later, there emerged the concept of combining research, teaching and patient care. This model, the first of its kind, would lead to a national and international reputation for excellence and discovery.

Today, Johns Hopkins uses one overarching name—Johns Hopkins Medicine—to identify its entire medical enterprise. This $5 billion system unites the physicians and scientists of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with the health professionals and facilities that make up the broad, integrated Johns Hopkins Health System.
