Radiance Solar And Cox Enterprises Complete Solar Thermal Hot Water Installation
Project Marks the Completion of Cox’s Second Solar Project in Georgia This Year

ATLANTA (June 25, 2009) - Radiance Solar LLC announced today the completion of one of Georgia’s largest solar thermal hot water installations at Cox Enterprises’ Manheim Georgia facility. The system will supply hot water to Manheim Georgia’s auto detail operation, offsetting more than 300 million BTUs of energy per year with clean, renewable solar energy.

The system has a life expectancy of more than 25 years and will reduce annual energy costs and environmental impact by more than 50 percent. The solar installation consists of forty 4’x10’ solar thermal collectors and 2,000 gallons of solar hot water storage.

“Cox Enterprises was great to work with throughout the development, design and installation,” said Jamie Porges, Radiance Solar’s founder and COO. “It’s great to work with partners like Cox who are forward-thinking in their approach to sustainability and understand the long-term financial benefits awarded by renewable solar energy.”

The Manheim project underscores both Cox’s commitment to renewable energy as well as the increasing vitality of the solar energy industry in the Southeast. The recent federal stimulus bill includes a series of state and federal stimulus grants available to businesses that invest in renewable energy.

“Renewable energy projects are good for the environment and the bottom line – especially with new stimulus incentives,” said Mike Mannheimer, vice president, supply chain services and chief procurement officer, Cox Enterprises. “Across the country, Cox is acting now to ensure a greener tomorrow.”

This project follows the recent completion of Cox’s 10,000-square-foot photovoltaic rooftop solar panel installation at its Manheim DRIVE facility in Stockbridge, Ga. Both projects are part of Cox Conserves (www.coxconserves.com), the company’s national sustainability program to conserve resources, embrace renewable forms of energy and reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2017. The program also encourages Cox’s 77,000 employees and their families to engage in eco-friendly practices.
