Manheim’s total resource auctions announces Major expansion in the salvage industry
Set To Acquire Four Leading Salvage Auction Companies and Technology, Giving Customers Access to Vast Resources and Network; All Partners and Business Operations To Remain Intact

ATLANTA – As part of a major national expansion, Total Resource Auctions, a subsidiary of Manheim, will acquire four industry-leading salvage auction companies operating at 11 locations.  The acquired companies are Klode Salvage Distribution Center, Inc., S.A.I.S.C., Inc., Sapulpa Auto Pool, Inc., and SourceOne Solutions. As part of the transaction, all existing partners and management will remain with the business under a multiyear agreement, ensuring business operations and customer service remain intact. The deal also includes AIMS Software, a leading salvage auction technology company that offers direct interface to customers, including key insurance customers.

The addition of these 11 locations will expand Total Resource Auctions’ coverage areas into new markets in Alabama, Oklahoma, Colorado and Wyoming and expand operations in Arizona, growing the number of Total Resource Auctions locations serving customers from 44 to 55 sites across the United States and Canada. In addition, Total Resource Auctions will strengthen its existing operations by leveraging proven processes, market expertise and connectivity to insurance industry technology.

“We are pleased to welcome these partners and their employees to the Manheim and Total Resource Auctions family,” said Manheim president and CEO Dean Eisner. “This investment offers us tremendous opportunities to deliver enhanced value to customers in the salvage industry and reinforces Manheim’s leadership in all sectors of the vehicle remarketing industry.”

Rick Dendorfer, owner of Klode Salvage Distribution Center, Inc., shared, “Forty-three years ago our father had the idea, risked it all, and built the quintessential American dream. As my brother Brian and I surveyed options for the continuation of Klode, it became apparent Manheim offered unparalleled strength, resources and commitment ─ the precise components that we required. These give our organizations a powerful opportunity to leverage our combined strengths.  We genuinely respect their management team and realize it’s time to close a chapter and open a new one for the benefit of our families and employees. We’ll take some time to reflect on what was and get to work to assist Manheim to build what is to become.”

“Our combined seller groups, which include Rick and Brian Dendorfer, owners of Klode Salvage Distribution Center, Inc., Rick and Steve Tornquist, owners of S.A.I.S.C., Inc., and Kent Haney, owner of SourceOne Solutions, agreed that we all loved what we were doing and did not consider selling; however, we realized at the same time it would be difficult to reach our full potential individually,” said Tim Rokisky, owner of Sapulpa Auto Pool, Inc. “Manheim’s acquisition business model is the perfect fit for our businesses.  While other consolidator models either required the departure of existing management or allowed existing management to stay under the operating guidelines of the acquiring companies, Manheim’s process combines its strengths with the acquired companies’ strengths. Our mutual goal is to replicate the success Manheim has had in the whole car industry within the salvage auction industry,” said Rokisky.

“The seller group’s intimate knowledge of local, regional and national salvage markets is complemented perfectly with Manheim’s international buyer base, providing our insurance customers immediate, maximum exposure for all their vehicles to a global network of qualified buyers,” said Rick Tornquist.

“This significant investment underscores our commitment to become a national provider in the salvage industry,” said Jamie Porter, president, Total Resource Auctions. “The existing partners and management teams will remain in place to ensure topnotch customer service remains intact and to share their industry-leading expertise and knowledge. The management of these companies possess the same values that we do, including a passion for delivering outstanding customer service, a commitment to technology innovation and a dedication to building long-term buyer and seller relationships.”

“Securing the knowledge, solid reputation and experience of these leading auction partners significantly positions Total Resource Auctions to grow,” said Bill Tiedemann, vice president and general manager of Total Resource Auctions. “Our company promotes and supports an entrepreneurial spirit which we feel will continue to fuel our long-term success. This spirit, coupled with our resources and access to new marketplaces, will differentiate our consolidation effort.”

“Our goal is to make this easy for our combined customers,” said Porter. “Customers will continue to maintain their relationships with current management teams and will conduct business as they normally have. Additionally, we hope our customers will take advantage of the opportunities offered by our extended market segments.”
